Janet Louise Hubert (born 13 January 1956) is an American actress in film and television. She is best remembered for playing the part of the original Vivian Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from their first season in 1990 to the conclusion of their third season in 1993. For her performance in 1991, Hubert has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.Raised in Chicago , Illinois, Hubert spent her early days growing up on the south side of Chicago. At nine she moved to rural Chicago with her family. She earned a scholarship at New York City's Juilliard School but did not complete her studies.
