Jean Marsh was born in London and became involved in show business while attending dance and mime lessons as a cure for a childhood illness. She started acting in repertory after attending a charm school and working as a model, and took voice lessons. Her repertory work as a dancer has been complemented by a variety of film appearances.She then spent three years in America, appearing in Broadway production of "Much Ado About Nothing" by Sir John Gielgud, and numerous television shows including an episode of The Twilight Zone (1959). She returned to London where she won roles on stage, film and television.
