Jerry O'Connell was born in New York City, to art teacher Linda (Witkowski), and British-born advertising agency art director Michael O'Connell. He spent his early years in Manhattan with his parents and younger brother, also actor Charlie O'Connell. He is descented from a half Irish, a quarter ItaliaBefore getting the role of "Vern Tessio" in the popular film Stand by Me (1986) opposite River Phoenix and Corey Feldman he did commercial work and television work. He subsequently worked on several TV-Movies and TV-series, and played a leading role in My Secret Identity (1988). From 1991 to 1994, Jerry attended New York University where he did his master's degree in film but did not graduate.n, and a quarter Polish. At a very young age Jerry began his acting career.
