Jessica Biel was born to Kimberly (Conroe) and Jonathan Edward Biel, a business analyst and GM worker in Ely, Minnesota. Biel grew up in Boulder, Colorado. She is of Czech, Danish, French, Hungarian, and German origin. Jessica had originally sought a career as a vocalist as a teenager, appearing in musical theatre. For such works as "Annie," "The Sound of Music," and "Beauty and the Beast," she appeared at the age of nine. Her first acting television series, portraying Mary Camden on the # 1-rated show of the WB, 7th Heaven (1996), helped her shine as a breakout star. She then excited and terrified moviegoers with her depiction of Erin, the biggest nemesis of "Leatherface" to date, in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), a recreation of the famous original in New Line Cinema.
