How tall is Joan Plowright?
One of the most distinguished actors of her generation is Dame Joan Ann Plowright, the Baroness Olivier. She may best be remembered as Laurence Olivier's third wife and widow, generally considered the 20th century's greatest Anglophone actor, but she had a distinguished career of herself on stage and on screen spanning six decades.Born on 28 October 1929 in Brigg, Lincolnshire, she completed her training at the Bristol Old Vic Theater School, and made her professional stage debut at Croydon in 1948. Her London debut came in 1954, and two years later she entered the English Stage Company of George Devine at the Royal Court Theatre, which would change her life just as the Royal Court drama revolutionized the English theatre.
