Joseph McElderry (born 16 June 1991) is a songwriter and English musician. In 2009, he entered the sixth season of the ITV competition The X Factor. On both the British Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Charts, his debut single "The Climb" reached number one. He was also crowned winner of Popstar's second series at Operastar in 2011, and The Jump's first series in 2014.In 2015, Joseph's lead role was performed by McElderry in the touring revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour.
