Compact Italian-American actor Joe Pesci was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 9, 1943, to part-time barber Mary (Mesce), and bartender and forklift driver Angelo Pesci.In the mid-1960s, he released an album called "Little Joe Sure Can Sing" under the stage name Joe Ritchie, and also played guitar with several bands including Joey Dee and The Starliters.He also joined his friend Frank Vincent in launching a comedy-style vaudeville act, but met with limited success (interestingly, Pesci and Vincent would later co-star together in many gangster movies, including Goodfellas (1990) and Casino (1995).
