Joel Edward McHale was born in Rome, Italy, to Laurie (Jackson), a Canadian-born mother, and Jack McHale, a father of American descent. His father, from Chicago, is of Irish descent and his mother, from Vancouver, has ancestors in Norway, Finland and England. Joel was born and graduated from Mercer Island High School in Seattle, Washington.Furthermore, Joel received his fine arts master's from the Actor's Training Program at UW. Joel was a cast member in Almost Live on KING-TV! (2015). (1984). Since graduating from college, he transferred to Hollywood, and quickly found roles in Will & Grace (1998) and Oliver Beene (2003).
