John David Ashton (born 22 February 1948) is an American actor who is known for his roles in Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hills Cop II and Midnight Race. Based in Springfield, Massachusetts, Ashton attended Defiance College in Ohio, and is a graduate of Southern California Theatre Academy. He graduated high school in Enfield, Connecticut, where he studied. Ashton has made several appearances in both TV and film movies. On several episodes of Dallas he played Willie Joe Garr. He featured in a Columbo episode, "Negative Response," and in Police Squad season 5! "Big Gulch rendezvous (Neighborhood terror)"
