John Cazale was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, to Cecilia (Holland), an Irish-American mother and John Cazale, an Italian-American father. In his career Cazale made just five feature films, those that both fans and reviewers consider classics alike. But he received several Obie Awards for his stage roles in "The Indian Needs the Bronx" and "Th before his film debut, the short The American Way (1962).Cazale scored Fredo Corleone's part in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972), after he was asked to audition by his long-time colleague, Al Pacino. In The Godfather: Part II (1974), where his character experience one of the most notorious moments in film history, he reprised his role as the troubled Fredo.
