José Ferrer was born as José Vicente Ferrer de Otero y Cintrón on 8 January 1912 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Popular for Dune (1984), Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), and Moulin Rouge (1952), he was an actor. He married Rosemary Clooney, Stella Daphne Magee, Phyllis Hill and Uta Hagen. He died in Coral Gables, Florida, USA, on 26 January 1992.Earned three Tony Awards, two for Best Actor (Dramatic): for "Cyrano de Bergerac" in 1947, a part he recreated in many subsequent productions including his Oscar-winning appearance in Cyrano de Bergerac (1950) film version. He won again for his first Broadway performance of "The Shrike" in 1952.
