A native of Garden Grove, Orange County, California, Justin Chon was born in Irvine, California. He is the son of pianist Kyung and former child actor Sang Chon. Justin comes from Korean descent. Justin Chon is an artist, producer, and actor known for his '90s LA Riots thriller Gook (2017), who won the Sundance Film Festival's NEXT category and went on to earn him the 2018 Independent Spirit Award for "something to watch." He followed up with a futuristic sister Koreatown drama MS. PURPLE (2019), which premiered at Sundance. He wrote, produced, and directed Blue Bayou (2020), his new deportation thriller, where he also plays the lead role opposite Alicia Vikander.
