How tall was Karl Malden?
Born as Mladen Sekulovich to a Czech mother and a Serbian father in Chicago, Karl Malden did not speak English until he was in kindergarten on 22 March 1912. Malden worked in the industry for three years until 1934, after graduating from high school in the nearby steel town of Gary, Indiana, when he was frustrated with the drudgery of manual labor.Malden soon got involved with the Group Theatre, an association of actors and directors that transformed the theater's identity, where director Elia Kazan attracted the attention. Through Kazan directing, Karl appeared in plays including Arthur Miller's "All My Children," and Tennessee Williams ' "A Streetcar Named Desire."
