Kathleen Mary Griffin (born 4 November 1960) is an American actor and actress, known as Kathy Griffin. She has appeared on several cable television comedy shows and produced comedy albums. For its reality series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Griffin won Primetime Emmy Awards in 2007 and 2008. She has also acted in various supporting roles on television and in movies.Based in Oak Park, Illinois, in 1978 she moved to Los Angeles where she studied acting at Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and became a member of The Groundlings, an improvisational comedy troupe. Griffin started working as a stand-up comic in the 1990s and also worked on television programs as a guest star and widespread exposure as a supporting actor in the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan (1996–2000).
