The born and raised Kathy Najimy in San Diego, California. She is the daughter of Samia (Massery) and of the postal worker Fred Najimy, both of Lebanese descent. Kathy attended Crawford High School, and in the early 1990s, she started her film career with several minor roles. In Sister Act (1992), Kathy got her breakthrough screen role as Sister Mary Patrick.
