Kim Basinger was born December 8, 1953, the third of five children in Athens, Georgia. Her parents were also in theater, her father had performed big-band music, and her mother had performed water ballet in several Esther Williams films. Kim was introspective, at the side of her father.The timid Kim won the Athens Junior Miss contest by the time she hit sweet sixteen. She went on to win the Junior Miss Georgia crown from there, and moved to New York to participate on the national Junior Miss pageant. Kim came into TV making episodes of hit shows such as Charlie's Angels (1976). She married Ron Snyder in 1980 (they separated in 1989). She had roles in film including becoming a Bond girl in Never Say Never Again (1983) and in Nadine (1987) as a small-town Texan beauty.
