Kim Jong-un (born 8 January 1983 or 1984) is a North Korean politician who has been North Korea's Supreme Leader since 2011 and president of Korea's Workers ' Party since 2012. He is the second child of Kim Jong-il (1941–2011), second leader of North Korea from 1994-2011, and Ko Yong-hui (1952–2004). He is the grandson of the founder Kim Il-sung, who led North Korea from its establishment in 1948 until his death in 1994.From late 2010 onwards, Kim Jong-un was seen as apparent successor to North Korea's leadership, and after the death of the elder Kim, North Korean state media declared him as the "Last Successor."Kim holds the titles of Chairman of the Korean Workers ' Party (as First Secretary between 2012 and 2016), President of the Central Military Commission, President of the State Affairs Commission, Commander-in-Chief (as Chairman of the SAC), and member of the Presidium of the Korean Workers ' Party Politburo, North Korea's top decision-making body.
