Lacey Nicole Chabert was born to Julie (Johnson) and Tony Chabert, a director for an energy corporation, in Purvis, Mississippi. She is an descent an Cajun (French), Spanish, Welsh, and Scottish. At an early age Chabert started performing drama and music shows in and around Mississippi's hometown, and in 1991 she was a finalist on Star Search (1983). She received her break in a commercial for cough syrup, before successfully auditioning for Les Miserables Broadway show, where she played young Cosette for two years. She has also appeared on a lot of TV shows, especially Group of Five (1994), a number of telemovies such as Gypsy (1993), and her big screen debut, Lost in Space (1998).
