She was a descendant of Romanian Jewish refugee Natalie Weinstein-Bacal and of Polish Jewish parents, William Perske, who had been raised in New Jersey. His father was middle class with his dad as a salesperson and his mother as a clerk. When she was five, they split and after that she never saw her father.
