Lester Keith Piggott (born 5 November 1935) is a retired professional English jockey player. With 4,493 career wins, including nine victories in Epsom Derby, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest flat racing jockeys of all time[2 ] and the originator of a much imitated style.LesterLester Piggott was born in Wantage to a family which could trace its roots back to the 18th century as jockeys and trainers.[5] The Piggotts were a family of Cheshire farmers who owned the Crown Inn in Nantwich for over 30 years from the 1870s.
