Alexander Crichlow Barker Jr. (May 8, 1919-May 11, 1973) was an American actor better known for portraying Tarzan of the Apes and leading roles from the novels of Karl May. Raised on 8 May 1919 in Rye, New York, Alexander Crichlow Barker, Jr. He was the second child of a wealthy Canadian-born construction contractor, Alexander Crichlow Barker, Sr., and his American wife, the former Marion Thornton Beals. Barker also made it on Broadway, in a minor part in 1938's The Merry Wives of Windsor in a limited run of Shakespeare's. He also played a minor part in the unsuccessful Five Kings of Orson Welles, which faced so many problems in Boston and Philadelphia that it never made it into New York City.
