Lisa was born February 17, 1971, and was raised in Perth, Australia. She joined WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and graduated with a musical degree in 1990 at age 19. After a short stay in Sydney when Lisa was awarded the Coles contract, she moved to Melbourne (Lisa appeared on television and newspaper advertising).Lisa's career started with her auditioning for the part of Annie Jone in Newly Weds, and a role in Home and Outside, both of which she did not win. But in 1993, in a new Australian drama Blue Heelers, she auditioned for Ros Patterson's part and instead won Maggie Doyle's lead role. Maggie Doyle soon became one of the most sought after characters on T.V. And so did Lisa with it.
