Lola Jean Albright was born in Akron, Ohio on July 20, 1924, the daughter of John Paul Albright and Marion Harvey, both Gospel artists. Prior to moving to Hollywood in the mid-1940s, she worked as a model, studied piano for 20 years, and worked as a receptionist at WAKR radio station in Akron. Considered one of Hollywood's most glamorous, sultry and elegant stars, she appeared with Kirk Douglas in the film noir champion (1949), with one of the throatiest, smokiest and most recognizable voices in the business. From 1958 to 1961 on famous television show Peter Gunn (1958) she portrayed sultry nightclub singer Edie Hart.
