Ludacris was born Christopher Brian Bridges, the son of Roberta Shields and Wayne Brian Bridges, in Champaign, Illinois where he was raised. He started rapping at the age of nine. During his freshmen year, he attended Emerson Middle School and then Oak Park and River Forest High School. His family then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and his father introduced him to all k at this time. He had attended Banneker High School in Alanta, Georgia. He also holds a degree from Georgia State University. He had his breakthrough with his album called "Home for the First Time" in 2000, reaching 3x platinum.
