Malin was born and raised in Toronto, Canada in Stockholm, Sweden. Her mother is the model and aerobics coach Pia (Sundström), and her dad is a broker for insurance. When she was 2 years old, they moved to Toronto. She started to be on TV ads at the age of 5. She was six years old and her father came back to Sweden when her parents divorced.At 17, she won Ford Supermodel's Canadian title. Which allowed her to spend three years in Europe as a catwalk. She chose to become a child psychologist and graduated from York University, although Earth: Final Conflict (1997) offered her a guest role, turning her attention back to action.
