Peter Mark Sinclair "Marc" Almond, OBE (born July 9, 1957) is an English guitarist and singer-songwriter. In the synthpop / new wave duo Soft Cell, Almond began playing and recording first. He had a diverse career as a solo artist too. His collaborations include a duet with Gene Pitney on the single number one "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" in the UK in 1989. Almond's career, which spans over four decades, has gained critical and commercial success, selling more than 30 million albums worldwide. After a near-fatal motorcycle crash in 2004 he spent a month in a coma, and then became a patron of Headway's brain injuries charity.
