Martina Navratilova (born 18 October 1956 in Martina Šubertová) is a former professional tennis player and coach from the Czechoslovak-born American country. Tennis magazine named her for the years 1975 through 2005 as the greatest female tennis player, and she is considered one of the best female tennis players of all time. Navratilova was World No. 1 for a total of 332 weeks in singles and a record of 237 weeks in doubles, rendering her the first woman in history to have occupied the top spot for more than 200 weeks in singles and doubles. She has been seven times year-end singles No. 1.
