How tall was Marvin Gaye?
Marvin Gaye (born Marvin Pentz Gay Jr.; April 2, 1939-April 1, 1984) was a musician, songwriter and record producer from the United States. In the 1960s he helped form Motown's sound, first as an in-house session player and then as a solo artist with a series of hits, gaining him the nicknames "Motown Prince" and "Soul Prince" Upon his return, the singing quartet The Marquees was founded by Gaye and his good friend Reese Palmer. The group performed in the D.C. Area and then started to collaborate with Bo Diddley, who contracted the group to OKeh Records, a Columbia licensee, despite struggling to convince the group to sign its own label Chess. The only song by the party, "Wyatt Earp" (co-written by Bo Diddley), struggled to chart and the party was quickly dropped from the label. Around this time Gaye continued writing songs.
