He won critical praise in the Dutch crime thriller Wolf for his strong and gritty results, in which he plays a newly paroled Moroccan refugee trying to cross the line between aspiring fighter and rising criminal enforcer. His performance won him the Golden Calf for Best Actor at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2013.The Berlin International Film Festival named Marwan as the 2014 Shooting Star, while in February 2014 Variety announced him as ' New Talent to Watch, ' followed by a mention in ' 15 New Break Out Talents of 2016 ' by The Hollywood Reporter.
