How tall was Maurice Chevalier?
Maurice Chevalier's first work was as an acrobat before the career was terminated by a serious crash. He put his skills into singing and acting, and made some French short films. He fought within the French army during World War I. He had been wounded in combat, captured by the Germans and held in a POW camp. He learned English from fellow prisoners during his imprisonment. He returned to the film industry following the war, and when "talkies" came into being Chevalier went to the United States to enter into Hollywood. He was partnered with opera singer / actress Jeanette MacDonald in 1929 to produce The Love Parade (1929).
