How tall was Maurice Evans?
Maurice Evans, a grand, strong, strongly dramatic British classical actor, was the son of a justice of peace who loved amateur playwriting on the side. Indeed his father adapted many versions of the novels of Thomas Hardy and Evans would often feature in them. Early curiosity came even as a child tenor in London choirs. A few attempts as a lead and/or a second lead in the film did not work out. He arrived in America after a season with the Old Vic Theatre Company, and went on to dominate Broadway, establishing himself as one of Shakespeare's most illustrious interpreters in the world.
