The British comedian and film director Melvin Kenneth Smith (December 3, 1952–July 19, 2012). In the comedy, Smith and his comedy partner, Griff Rhys Jones, were presenting Not the Nine O'Clock News and Alas Smith and Jones. Smith and Jones founded Talkback, one of the biggest TV comedy and light entertainment producers in Britain.
