Michael Maloney was born in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England on 19 June 1957. Popular for The Young Victoria (2009), Henry V (1989) and Remarks on a Fiasco (2006), he is an actor.For the part of Withnail in Withnail & I (1987) he was down to the last two with Richard E. Grant so he told his agent he didn't want the role because he couldn't respond well to the character.He is the only actor to have starred in both Hamlet (1990) and Hamlet (1996) by Franco Zeffirelli and Kenneth Branagh. In the former, he played Rosencrantz and in the latter, Laertes. His character Joe Harper directed an amateur version of "Hamlet" and played the title role in Branagh's theatre spoof A Midwinter's Tale (1995).
