Robert Alan Deal (born either 4 May 1951 or 4 April 1955), professionally known as Mick Mars, is an American singer, lead guitarist and co-founder of the Mötley Crüe rock band.He reinvented himself after almost a decade of frustration with the California music scene, changing his name from Robert Deal to Mick Mars and dyeing his hair jet black in hopes of a fresh start. He posted a want ad in the Los Angeles newspaper The Recycler in April 1980 and described himself as "a loud, rude and aggressive guitar player."Mars dedicated songwriting to John LeCompt, a former member of Evanescence and Machina's other band members, and to Crashdïet, a Swedish band. A second album, The Unattractive Awakening, was released on October 3, 2007, featuring two tracks that Mars co-wrote together.
