Mike's one of four men. His father, Joe who died in Hollywood studios in 1956, was a carpenter. Mike and Natalie Wood and Ricky Nelson attended High School. He joined the Marines for two years during the 1950s. Later, he attended Los Angeles University of California and studied acting at the Jeff Corey School. He continued to get major roles in films, contributing to a recurring appearance on Days of Our Lives (1965) and eventually to M*A*S*H (1972). After M*A*S*H (1972) left the screen, he rejected TV shows for several years, until Providence (1999) was proposed to him
