Nickolas Gene Carter was born, Jane Elizabeth (Spaulding) and Robert Gene Carter, on Jamestown, New York, on 28 January 1980. He appeared in several TV commercials when he was a child and in 1989 he performed the audition at The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989). Yet his main interest was music, and his mother promoted it by teaching singing. His career began in 1992 as one of the backstreet boys, he successfully auditioned.
