How tall is Omar Sharif?
Omar Sharif, the Egyptian actor best known for playing Sherif Ali in Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and the title role in Doctor Zhivago (1965), was born on 10 April 1932 to Joseph Shalhoub, a lumber merchant, and his wife, Claire (Saada), in Alexandria, Egypt. The young Michel had been raised Catholic of Lebanese and Syrian descent. He was educated at Victoria College in Alexandria, and graduated from Cairo University with a degree in mathematics and physics. Until making his English-language film debut with "Lawrence of Arabia," for which he was given a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award, he entered the family lumber business.
