Patsy Kelly was born on 12 January 1910 in Brooklyn, New York, to Bridget Sarah Veronica Rose Kelly. When she was just twelve years old, she began acting in vaudeville. Patsy collaborated with actor Frank Fay and appeared in numerous plays on Broadway. Producer Hal Roach had discovered her, who paired her with Thelma Todd in a series of comedy shorts.They became a successful onscreen unit, and together they made thirty-five movies including Top Flat (1935) and Done in Oil (1934). Patsy never became an A-list celebrity though she continued to work in the 1930s. In Pigskin Parade (1936), Merrily We Live (1938), and Topper Returns (1941), she had supporting roles.
