Singer / actress Patti LuPone was born on 21 April 1949 in Northport, Long Island, New York, of Italian descent, a whirlwind of talent and a artistic power to be reckoned with. Her husband, school principal Orlando Joseph LuPone, and mother Angela Louise (Patti), a librarian, eventually split. She was called Patti in memory of the prominent 19th century opera singer Adelina Patti, her good-grand-aunt. Educated in music, her early days as a teenager were spent as part of a group of 60s siblings dubbed "The Lupone Trio," consisting of Patti and older twin brothers William and Robert LuPone, who went on to a demanding career of their own.
