Peter Doherty, professionally known as Pete Doherty, is a singer, songwriter, actor, author, writer, and artist from England. He is best known as co-frontman of The Libertines, formed in 1997 with Carl Barât. His other musical collaborations include the Babyshambles and Peter Doherty indie band, and the Madres Puta. In the late 1990s, Doherty and Barât formed a band named the Libertines, but it wasn't until 2002, when their debut album Up the Bracket was released, that they started to gain widespread commercial recognition.
