Philip Parris Lynott was an Irish singer and songwriter from August 20, 1949 to January 4, 1986. His most commercially active band was Thin Lizzy, a founding group of which he was the principal songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist. He was known for his innovative lyrical writings, including accounts about the working class and various personal experiences and characters.Via his uncle Timothy's series of songs, Lynott was introduced to music and inspired by Tamla Motown and The Mamas & Papas. In 1965, as a lead guitarist, he formed his first band, the Black Eagles, playing famous covers in small clubs around Dublin.
