Phyllis Davis was born in Nederland, Texas. She had been staying on the second floor of the mortuary company of her father. At activities, Phyllis and her two younger brothers needed to be very still upstairs, as the walls would collapse. Phyllis briefly attended Lamar University, and then moved to Los Angeles in the mid-'60s to pursue a show biz career. She took Pasadena Playhouse acting lessons. Phyllis 'first acting break in Elvis Presley movies began with small parts. Auditions for the series were conducted by Love, American Style (1969). Currently 200 actors were tested and rejected.
