Richard Farnsworth, a Los Angeles native, was an American stuntman who went into acting after more than 30 years in the industry and was an accomplished and admired character actor. He grew up with horses and was given a opportunity to ride in movies as a child. He participated in unbilled scenes of horse-racing and cavalry attacks, first as a general driver and then as a stuntman. His riding and stunting skills earned him daily jobs doubling stars from Roy Rogers and Gary Cooper and he most sometimes doubled the bad guy.
