Richard Paul Astley (born 6 February 1966) is an English artist, lyricist and radio character. He rose to notoriety through his relationship with the creation trio Stock Aitken Waterman; his 1987 account of their tune "Never Gonna Give You Up" was a number 1 hit single in 25 nations, winning the 1988 Brit Award for Best British Single. By the hour of his retirement in 1993, Astley had sold around 40 million records worldwide. Astley made a rebound in 2007, turning into an Internet marvel when the music video for "Never Gonna Give You Up" got basic to the image known as "rickrolling". Astley was casted a ballot "Best Act Ever" by Internet clients at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008, and his 2016 collection 50 appeared in the UK at No. 1.
