Rick Springfield was born in Guildford, Brisbane, New South Wales, Australia, to Eileen Louise (Evennett) and Norman James Springthorpe, Australian Colonel. His mother's parents were Welsh, and his uncle was English and Scottish descent. Rick spent his youth at various military stations in Australia and Britain. He met other bands as a young man, such as the Jordy Boys, Wakedie Wak and Zoot. He played music as a child. The latter was his best achievement and paved the way for his eventual success in music. In the early 1970's he came to the United States. Speaking to the Hell has been one of the "greatest" successes.
