Robert James Smith (born April 21, 1959) is an English singer, guitarist, songwriter, and record producer. He is the lead singer, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, principal songwriter, and only a continuous member of the Cure rock band he co-founded in 1976. From 1982 to 1984 he was also the lead guitarist for the band Siouxsie and the Banshees and was part of the Glov short-lived band.
