In 1992 Roberto Carlos started playing for the Brazilian national team. He has participated in three World Cups, helping the team reach the final in France in 1998, and winning the Korea / Japan tournament in 2002. In 1998 and 2002 he was named All-Star Team of the FIFA World Cup. He was selected to the FIFA World Cup Dream Team and was called to the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living in 2004 by Pelé
