Ronald Earle Glass (July 10, 1945 – November 25, 2016) was an American on-screen character. He was most popular for his jobs as scholarly Det. Ron Harris in the TV sitcom Barney Miller (1975–1982), and as the otherworldly Shepherd Derrial Book in the sci-fi arrangement Firefly (2002) and its continuation film Serenity (2005) In the wake of moving on from St. Francis Seminary in 1964, Glass went to the University of Evansville, where he got a Bachelor of Arts, twofold studying dramatization and writing. A long time later, the college granted him its Medal of Honor. Glass said in 2007 he knew while he was in school that he needed to act. With an instructor's consolation, he acted in a play and went on to an acting profession
