Ronald Frederick Lane (1 April 1946 – 4 June 1997) was an English singer, songwriter, and producer better known as the bass guitarist and founding member of two influential English rock and roll bands: Tiny Faces (1965–69) and then Faces (1969–73). He was nicknamed "Plonk" with Little Faces. He received the nickname "Three-Piece" after their split and the formation as Faces. Lane left Faces in 1973. He later collaborated with other musicians to lead his own bands and follow a solo career while staying loyal to his former bandmates. He was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis in 1977. His charitable efforts and financial donations from friends, former bandmates and supporters helped him. He died at the age of 51, after 21 years of suffering from the disease.
