Rosemary E. LaPlanche (11 October 1923 – 6 May 1979) was an actress and queen of American beauty. She won two years in a row for Miss California (1940 and 1941), and in 1941 she won Miss America. At a very early age, LaPlanche moved from Kansas to southern California, with her mother and friend, Louise LaPlanche. LaPlanche, who lived in Los Angeles, California, was Miss California in both 1940 and 1941. A controversial law since her win has more than once disallowed candidates to participate at state level.
